This weekend I met the mom of my dreams. She loves me sooo much she can barely keep her eyes off me. She plays with me outside and takes me for walks. She likes to shop at Petsmart and we have been there a couple of times. Tonight she took me shopping and bought me a new bed. It is so comfy! I also have my eye on a family of rabbits that play in the yard. Boy do I get excited when I see them! I am keeping mom's house very clean and am minding my manners. This place is the best! If you will excuse me I am going to snooze now. I'll write more later!
P.S. Mom has been taking lots of pictures of me and I will post some very soon!

I've waited a long time for this day
Dear Diary,
I've waited a very long time for this day. I found my forever home. My new mom Christie met me today and liked, no loved, everything about me. She said I was waaaayyyy more handsome than my picture and that my ears weren't dopey looking at all. I showed her how I sit for treats and my foster mom even showed Christie how nicely I allow my teeth to be brushed. Mostly, I was just a gentleman and I think she liked that.
Thank you Cooper, Fame and Ginger for letting me share all of your toys and beds. I think my foster mom got something in her eye because she had to keep wiping them. Thank you for making me into the best dog I could be.
Gotta run, my new home and people await me.

I couldn't ask for a better foster
George is such a wonderful foster. I wish I were more computer saavy so that I could post pictures of him, as I would love for you to be able to see him interacting with my other greys and show how he relaxes in our home. I will have to have my children give me a lesson. George's manners are perfect, his behavior and interaction with others has been wonderful. He enjoys playing with stuffies and interacting with his greyt friends; Fame, Ginger and Cooper. He loves people and will let you know it with kisses and a very wagging tail. George takes cookies, ever so gently from my fingers and he takes them with the same gentleness from my grandchildren. He will make someone, maybe you, the most perfect companion. He is a beautiful brindle boy that is waiting patiently for his forever home.

I'm the Best Kisser
Dear Diary,
I have some fun stuff to report to you. Yesterday my foster parents took me to Greyfest. That's a real big picnic type event with lots of greyhounds and their people. I had such a good time visiting with the other greyhounds. There were so many people there that knew me. Some of them used to walk me when I was residing at the kennel and it was real nice to see them again.
My foster mom decided that she would enter me in one of the contests that was being held. It was for the best kisser. So I got in line and went over to the judge, who I never saw before, and kissed him and kissed him and kissed him, and you know what. I WON THE PRIZE. I was allowed to pick a prize out of the prize box and I'm having fun playing with my new squeaky stuffie. I still had kisses left for anyone who wanted to see how good I was.
I walked nicely on the leash and got along well with every greyhound that I encountered at Greyfest. By the end of the day I was very tired and slept all the way home. I'm still a little tired today from all of the activities.
I think I may have a few kisses in store for you, if you want to meet me.

what a wonderful boy
Usually George posts to his diary, but I asked him if it would be okay for me to write a little something about him this time.
How should I start, well, George is wonderful. He has perfect house manners, not one accident since I've had him. He will bark at me if he needs to go out, and if I'm not waiting for him at the door, he will bark to let me know he's ready to come in. He sleeps in our bedroom on his bed and doesn't exhibit any spacial issues. My greys can walk around him, across him and he is fine with that. He eats his meals in the xpen, but if I let him out before mine are done eating, he doesn't bother them. He eats like a gentleman and sits and waits for me to tell him it's ok to eat. He enjoys playing with toys and likes to play fetch. Well maybe not so much fetch as he runs after the ball and I chase him to get it back. He allows me to take the ball from him and throw it again. He enjoys this little game. He tries to play with my sons medium size dog, but Sami isn't too sure what she's supposed to do, so she just barks at George.
George is a kisser. I'm thinking of bringing him to Greyfest so I can win the prize for having the best kisser there. He loves to be petted and have attention but he's not demanding of it at all. He follows me from room to room but only because he likes to be close. If he was only small dog tolerant, I would keep him forever. If George sounds like the type of dog you would love to have love you put your application in to adopt him. He's waiting for you.
George has approved this message.

Play Ball
Dear Diary, Things have been going well for me in my foster home. The lady had some tennis balls and threw one to me. I liked chasing it but had more fun seeing the lady chase me to get the ball back. This looked like a game so I kept on running and running and she kept on chasing and chasing. I don't know what this game is called but I liked it. We both came into the house and fell asleep from all the running we did. I no longer have to sleep in my xpen at night. I've proven to the lady that I can be trusted and it's nice not having to be penned up. Sometimes I find Fame or Ginger laying in the xpen. They are silly girls. Usually I start out laying along side the bed where the lady is, but eventually I move to one of the more comfy dog beds. I'm having a nice time at the lady's house, but I'd love to find my forever home. Could it be with you?

What my perfect home will be like
Hi Diary,
It's been a while, I've been on sabbatical and while meditating, doing Yoga, eating yogurt, and pondering what my future will be, I've come to some conclusions as to what would make me most happy. I would like a home with lots of comfy cushions so I can lay where ever I want, and still be with my masters. I would prefer a home with a mature couple, that would allow me to give them lots of love and kisses and then just go lay down and chill out. I found out, through therapy, that I am Alpha. I would prefer a home that doesn't have any other pets, but could probably tolerant a large submissive friend. I am living, currently, with three other greyhounds, but they are very lowkey and they know I'm top dog (or at least they let me think I am).
If anyone reads my diary and thinks they are the couple I am looking for, please contact the lady that calls herself my foster mom and find out more about me. By the way, my head shot, on the webpage, doesn't do me justice.

Wish me luck today
Dear Diary,
Sorry I haven't written to you in a while. Everything is going very well here at the lady's house. I know to sit for my dinner and treats, I don't even have to be asked anymore, I just do it.
Last Sunday a very nice family came to meet me. They had two daughters and I loved them both. The littlest girl was a little nervous around me but I just wanted to kiss her. The mom and dad really liked me. They even emailed (I'm technically savvy) the lady to tell her that my name should be Cupid, because my arrow hit their heart. I'm not sure what that means, but I think it's a good thing.
Today I am going to the meeting at the farm, and am supposed to meet their dog Sadie. Hopefully, Sadie will think I'm very handsome and will want me to go live with them. Keep your fingers crossed for me, Dear Diary. I promise to be on my best behavior. I'm going to take a nap now, because I want to look my best for the meeting.

What I did this weekend
Dear Diary,
What a fun time I had this weekend. First, I helped the lady and man that are taking care of me mow their lawn. I wasn't afraid of the lawn mower at all and had fun running along side them. Then the lady found a tennis ball and started to throw it. She doesn't have much of an arm so it didn't go really far, but I had fun chasing after it. I figured out if I picked it up and ran with it, the lady chased after me a bit until I brought it to her and she would throw it again. Sometimes, I even tossed it around myself. Later the man was raking some old leaves and it gave me a very cool spot to lay in, so the man stopped raking so I could enjoy the shade and the coolness. I thought that was very considerate of him.
On Sunday the lady took Fame and Cooper to a M & G. I wanted to go, but she told me I had to stay home and keep Ginger company. That was okay with me because Ginger is a very pretty Blonde Greyhound. Hubba Hubba.
I ran in the yard with Fame, Ginger and Cooper. We were all wearing our muzzles so we wouldn't hurt each other in case our play got too rough, but that didn't happen. By the time we were done running, I was very tired and was glad to go in to take a nap.
The lady no longer has to hand feed me, I'm very anxious to eat my meals and I know how to sit for my cookies.
I'll write some more, dear Diary, in a few days. I really like it here, but I know that this is only temporary. I'd love to find my forever family real soon.

Diary update
Dear Diary,
It's been two nights now since I arrived. I've settled in nicely and am getting used to the routine. I love running outside in the yard and I've been hanging around Cooper alot. The girls are pretty flirtatious, but I'm taking my time before I get involved.
The lady that sprung me noticed that I was not too interested in eating my food, I think I wasn't used to the new bowl and the food, so she came to my crate and put some food in her hand and fed me a few mouthfuls. I took the food very gently from her and she told me I was a very good boy. I sort of liked the attention, so I act like I'm a finicky eater so she can keep feeding me by hand, I just take one or two mouthfuls from her and then I eat from the bowl. She is also teaching me to sit for my cookies and I'm catching on pretty well. Soon I'll be doing it on my own. I'm glad she's given me the chance to show what a good boy I am. I don't like cats much or little dogs, so it's taking me a little while longer to find the right family for me, but I know they will be very special when they find me. I'm really quite a looker, the lady tells me I'm very handsome.
I'll write another entry, diary, in a few days.

Welcome to your foster home George!
Dear Diary, well, I finally got sprung from the kennel. I was brought home by some lady that came to the kennel. I've seen her there before and wondered why it took her so long to decide to foster me. I was introduced to my new roommates, Ginger (what a looker), Fame (what a tart) and Cooper (my only competition for the girls).
I've been checking out some of the dog beds, boy there are plenty to choose from and am relaxing on one as I write this. I'm a little tired as going to a home is an exciting time. I'm going to settle in now and I'll write more tomorrow.
Thanks lady for giving me a chance. I know I'm going to make someone happy when they adopt me.

I just want my human!
George can be a little discontented with other dogs, but he is such a lovebug when its just the humans and him! HE just looks right in your eyes, and snuggles and gives kisses! HE is just ready to be your one and only. He is really a sweet boy, just more of a people dog than a dogs dog!

He's a love bug!
George Strait is one of my favorites at the kennel. Why? Because he is loving, playful, a good kisser and quite the gentleman. Hmmm...if he weren't a dog, might be good spouse material! LOL.
He always has a happy smile to greet those who come to see him. Some of his favorite things are, well, yes, of course, tennis balls AND squirrels AND birds. This dog celebrates his life and is looking forward to his forever home! He will bring so much to your heart.

Georgie
I just love George Strait. At the kennel Monday night he was soooo cute and wanted all the love he could get. When I would talk sweet in a higher voice he would cock his head to the side and listen so close and then lean in for a kiss. He is adorable!

I had kennel duty last night, 3/16/08. George Strait is a sweet and loving hound. Very well mannered. Easy to get the collar and muzzle on and he walks very well on the leash. Also went back in his kennel with no problems. Tina Surls

struttin my stuff
Since the only other male in the kennel had to be leash walked due to his recent surgery, I was really able to strut my stuff for all the lovely ladies in the kennel. I have a bubbly personality, I love people and like to stay close to them when they are walking me. The girls call me Handsome George (Strait, not Hamilton) because I have such a happy face.

Perfect Gentleman

Well it's been cold outside but George doesn't seem to mind very much. After 189 races and mastering the stairs, he settled down for a well deserved cozy nap. Makes you want to snuggle right up with him!
We are amazed at how quick George has settled in and become a great house guest. We haven't had a single issue and he loves hanging with the kids.
I've continued clicker training with him and he's getting the idea! Touch the cup, get a treat. I'm not sure who's training who!

My new foster home
Well, King George has arrived at his new castle! Of course he has to share the throne with our own greyhound Casper (aka "Toolbox" - Covered in Snow's brother).Right off the bat the two dogs took well to each other. George had the expected "nervous pacing" for the first day but has calmed down and seems to be adapting quite well. He has settled in faster than Casper. He was a little nervous the first night here, but he slept through the second night without a peep.

He is an eager walker and loves to be outside. Everyone has commented on how beautiful and soft he is.
George has taken well to going up stairs which he learned on his own. We are working on going down. A great start! We've started clicker training (Thanks Jennifer!) and he seems to be food motivated so I expect he will train well. Stay tuned...
We've crated him when going out and even while we're here and have had no problems.
Great start for a wonderful dog!

Hey George...Good to see you back here.........
........we missed you here at Tara's B&B. I just got back myself and low and behold we have a bunch of newbies. Some of the these hounds are not even two years old yet. Can you imagine that? I guess they are going to make better pets than racers.
I just came for a visit and expect to be on my way soon. Let's chat next time they let us in the outdoors together. Maybe we can request to be neighbors. I have some "pull" with Tara.
Glad your here...Hardwood
